Review Policy
Reviews are the heart of SchoolGuide Ghana. These rules keep them honest — for parents who rely on them and for schools whose reputations depend on fair treatment.
Verified where possible
Human-moderated
Schools respond, never delete
Who can review
Parents and guardians, alumni, current students and current or former staff may review a school they have genuine first-hand experience of. You must declare your relationship when submitting. School owners, marketing agencies and competitors may not review — reviews written for payment or in exchange for favours are banned and removed.
Verification
Reviews earn a "Verified" badge when we can confirm the reviewer's connection to the school — for example through an enquiry or application made on the platform, or documentation shared privately with our team. Unverified reviews can still be published but are labelled accordingly and weighted less in summary statistics.
Moderation
Every review is checked by a human moderator before publication, usually within 1–2 working days. We remove or decline reviews that contain:
- Names of children or identifying details of minors
- Abuse, hate speech, threats or discriminatory language
- Unproven allegations of criminal conduct (report these to the authorities and to us privately)
- Content about a different school, or from someone with no genuine connection
- Spam, advertising or content written for payment
- Personal contact details of staff or other parents
Criticism, however strong, is not a reason for removal. Negative reviews that follow these rules are published just like positive ones.
Schools can respond — but never delete
Schools with a claimed profile can post one public response per review. Responses go through the same moderation rules. Schools cannot edit, hide or delete a review, and they cannot pay us to do so. If a school believes a review breaches this policy, it can flag the review with evidence and an independent moderator — not the school — will decide.
Anonymity
You may publish anonymously — many parents do, and we protect their identity. However, we still require your details privately for verification and moderation, and anonymous reviews must meet the same standards as named ones.
Reporting a review
Anyone can report a review that appears to break these rules via the contact page. Include the school name and the review text. We investigate every report and act within 5 working days.
